When I walked through the valley of death, my enemy restored my soul
Yeah, though I was bleeding in a bunker,
An Iraqi soldier, you a medic from Iran,
Though you could have forced me under
That time in 1982, this you didn’t do.

You tried an IV, took me to the field doctor,
Protected me in captivity, gave me your hand.
It was almost the end - the doctor refusing to treat me,
His family a victim of war crimes-
But you stood there praying
And he saved my life because he heard your prayer.
So, if ever there was a God, that God was there.
