A story about my Teddy Bear
I, as like many people, have had a thing about teddy bears! I mean, what is there to not like about those cute, hugable, bears? In the eighties, I started collecting bears. I was working, had a good paying job and spurged on myself. I went to a store that only sold toy bears and got myself one that was a dark gray color and had, what I though was a grizzly look; home we went. From there it grew - well, not the bear but the collection. It started to get out of hand. I mean, where do you put all these guys?

My husband came up with a great idea. I needed a tree to hang them from. So he created a tree for me made of dowels branching out from one big dowel. It was wonderful, at first, but even then I needed space for the bulk coming from the tree. So, I made space on my large dresser for such a thing as that!

Now, getting back to Teddy, the bear above, well, he came much later. You see, dusting the bears on the tree got to be a problem and well, I was getting bored with the whole big thing on my dresser. So, I finally started giving them away. I know, sad!

Years went by and one day, I said to myself, I want a Teddy so I am going to make a Teddy. I drew my own pattern and got the crochet yarn and went to work. I made up my stitches as I went along. Did rip out a few here and there, but eventually got the legs and arms just right. The body, which looked more like a tear drop shape was the easiest. The head wasn't bad, but attaching them took a little more time so that it looked proper. All in all, I was pleased. After looking at it, Teddy needed something, so I made him a scarf. I felt good after he was completed as it is always nice to complete something. At one point I thought that, with the scarf, he looked like a pilot. So, I made him a little aviator's hat. It didn't stay on to well, but did look cute!

Teddy has been with me for years, I am not sure what date it was that I finished him. But, for a person who didn't always complete crafty things, I am proud of my Teddy!

What story do you have about something you completed? Please share,

Blessings
