Part 6 and end of trapper Jack and the legend of the ogopogo
Cole swam over to where Maddie was and shone his light in the hole, he pointed and gestured for Maddie to follow and he swam in. The hole opened up after a few feet until it opened into a big cavern, Cole kicked up and surfaced, and looked around. What the....he thought. Maddie surfaced next to him, looked around and thought whoa, they looked in awe for a minute because they were in a large cavern. The walls of the cavern were studded with what appeared to be rubies. Cole got Maddie's attention and jerked his head indicating he'd found a landing, they swam to it, and climbed up out of the water. Took off their oxygen tanks and face masks. “Are those what I think they are?” asked Maddie?
“Only one way to know for sure.” replied Cole and he pulled his dive knife out of it's sheath and started trying to pry a stone from the wall. “Ahhh got it,” he said as one popped loose. “Now we just got to get this thing tested.”and slipped it into a pocket of his dive suit and zipped it up.
“Ahhhh Cole?” said Maddie from ten feet further up the beach where she'd wandered off too.
“Yeah?”
“You better come here.”
“Alright I'm coming, what could be more fascinating than rubies for Pete's sake.....oh” sitting on the sand right in front of Maddie some mechanical contraption hooked up to a huge piece of PVC pipe that disappeared into the water.
“You wanna bet this PVC pipe is the cause of the whirlpool and the missing diver?”
“No bet!” came a shout from the darkness. “That pipe sucked me into the water and I was stuck on it, when this diver in a ridiculous serpent costume, swam up and carried my down here, and stuck me in this cage. GET ME OUT!!!”
“Wowsers, why didn't you tell us you were down here sooner.” Maddie replied while she shone her light to find the source of the voice. Finding the diver a moment later in a large cage, locked with a padlock.
“It's dark down here, and you hear all kinds of strange noises, at first I didn't recognize that it
was people, and then I thought it must be him. Then I heard a female voice, and I listened when it was obvious you weren't in league with him, I shouted out.” the diver replied.
“Ok hold on a minute and we'll get you out of there. Maddie look for a big rock or something to break this padlock.” After searching for a minute Cole finally came up with a hammer “Aha, this'll do.”After striking the lock twice it fell off, and Cole and Maddie freed the diver from his prison.

Great now how do we get out of here?”Cole asked
“Back the way we came I guess” We'll have to share an oxygen mask....ah crap. Cole check \your line, mine's got too much slack” Maddie starting to haul in her line, and Cole did also, finally after what seemed forever the lines came snaking out of the water.
“Yep, cut. I'm not sure we can find our way back through the hole without the rope. What happened up there?” Cole wondered out-loud.
“No time to worry about that,” Maddie dismissed his concerns “We got to get out of here.”
“Ahhhh guys?” the diver interrupted.
“Yeah?” they both said at the same time.
“Well I couldn't see but the man who kidnapped me didn't go back into the water. When he locked me in that cage,he went back here somewhere.” the diver said walking back further into the cave. “Shine that light over here.” Maddie followed after the diver and shone her light where he was pointing.
“Cole, there's a passage way here.”
“I told you guys.” the diver said triumphantly.
“You know we could lock you back in that cage.” Cole threatened.
“You wouldn't.”
“You bet I would now button it.”said Cole silencing the diver. The three followed the
passageway in the dark lit only by their dive lights.
Jack was starting to get worried. Even though the protesters had moved off and started shouting at golfer on the distant beach, Cole and Maddie still hadn't come back yet., andworse they had completely disappeared from the sonar. “Kenzie they only have 10 minutes left of air, what are we going to do?”
“I don't know Jack....” just then as Kenzie was thinking what they could do, she saw two figures on the top of the cliff waving. “Hey! Jack it's them!”
“Yes!” Jackson yelled and then jumped into Kenzie's arms for a hug. Cole, Maddie and the Diver cannon-balled into the water.. Kenzie picked them up, as they headed back to the dock, each group filled the other in in what had happened. Kenzie's eyes gleamed when she saw the ruby.
“There's a whole cave filled with them?”
“There's a motive if I ever heard one.” Jack opined.
“And who do we know that would have the know how to build a tool like that?” Maddie asked
“And who knows all the folklore about the Ogopogo, besides Jack of course” teased Cole.
“Kel!”They all four said at once.
After they got back to the dock they called the Mounties, and took the diver down to the station, where they all told their stories. An hour later they were hauling Kel in in cuffs. He confessed to the crimes. This is what he wrote.
When I was a boy growing up in the tribe, my father who was Chief, would tell me stories of the Lake Demon, what you white eyes call the Ogopogo. The Lake Demon guarded the Ruby Cave, only our chiefs were allowed to enter and only after giving the proper sacrifice. I always thought it was just a myth because their was no cave. What I didn't know then was that the water level had risen submerging the cave. When I was at MIT, I learned about such things, and on a lark, I went diving around the lake looking for the cave in the area my father had told me it was. The day I found it, I also found out Rattlesnake Island was putting up a golf course and I knew that if people were to stumble onto the cave. I'd never be allowed to keep it, it was sacred to my people. Only I knew It's secrets, why should anyone else benefit from it? So I came up with a plan to drive people away, I resurrected the legend of the Lake Demon the Ogopogo. Only instead of driving people away it only brought more people, people hoping to get a glance of the ogopogo, and protesters. I knew my secret would be discovered so I kidnapped a diver and made it look like he was attacked by the Ogopogo. And I would have gotten away with it too, if it hadn't been for those pesky kids”
Glad to be back home, Kenzie, Maddie and Jack were playing the Angry Birds Card game when Kenzie's phone rang. “Guys! It's Cole, I think we've got a case"
