Epic style with standard aabbccddee etcetera rhyme scheme
A feeling that I never knew
That made me know not what to do
Occurred to me the day she died
Within my arms, my loving bride.

The evening that we took that walk
To give us both a chance to talk
Was interrupted by a sound
Of bullet shells upon the ground.

I caught her body as she fell
But would she live I couldn’t tell
So on the ground I held my mate
And deep within me swelled my hate.

The man had run, we’re helpless now
‘Til death do part, my wedding vow
And in between my sobbing cries
I gazed into her lovely eyes.

With one last smile she gave to me
A memory I long to see
The only woman in my life
I ever wanted as my wife.

So in my arms I held this girl
Around her neck a string of pearl
That as a Christmas gift I gave
And now there was no way to save

The only one who loved me back
And never once did our love slack
So now I sit here all alone
As back and forth I rock and moan.

And in the distance I can hear
Police and rescue coming near
Although I see they are too late
So all I do is cry and wait.

Then on her lips I lay a kiss
My final one I cannot miss
Her eyes then close, she takes a breath
Her final one before her death.

Then from my eyes there floods the tears
Our marriage lasting just 3 years
But with her never was I sad
It was the best I ever had.

Upon her face our tears are one
I can’t believe that this is done
Emotions that I never bared;
The feelings that I never shared.

But now there wouldn’t be a chance
I’m shaking now and in a trance
For I had planned on growing old
And every day her hand I’d hold.

But now I see that I was wrong
For at her side I should belong
And since that day I wonder when
I’ll get to see my lover again.
