A prompt from the Writing Tools to help the juices to flow
A circle, a square and a triangle.

First I ask myself what is the relationship? They all will fit inside of each other: A triangle is half of a square. They are the basic forms we all learn as children. Outside of that, they are boring unless they have color. If we look at a white triangle vs. a yellow one, I would pick the yellow over the white. Both could be worthy within their own right as they could be cheeses, or ?

Circles represent coins, rings, cheerioes, cupcakes and much more. The square, well where would we be without the square: no houses, no boxes, no crackers, no CD cases, not to mention mailing stamps.

Now the triangle, that is a curious thing. Never did understand why we need the triangle. After all, if you put two of them together you could get a diamond type shape, but I prefer real diamonds. They are a good source for teaching how to count; a quarter, a half, an eighth. They do however, give us a piece of pie. I could go for a piece of apple pie and coffee right now.

If we take it a little further to the silly side. We could have never invented the car if it were not for the circle. Because, how would you get round on square or triangle wheels.

Then there is the circle of life. It is a spiritual journey, a song, a color chart, and some I probably do not know of. Just taking the circle of life spiritual journey is a topic that could fill a book. Briefly looking at birth, living and death could take us out to infinity.

Looking at these three items we might think of Rule of Thirds in art. Google says that if you divide your composition into thirds, either vertically or horizontally, and then place focal areas of your scene at the meeting points of them, you will get a more pleasing arrangement and layout for your compositions. To me that means the center, or general area. Why not just say that? And then, there is a painting in three parts, which is called a triptych, usually a panel painting. One painting of a topic is enough for me, why put it into 3 parts?

How do you feel about the circle, the square and the triangle?
