A poem in response to Prompts
WRITERS’ PROMPTS

I wanted to create a piece from the prompts*,
Had a concept of a plan,
Even looked in the closet for my feather earrings,
But after that, oh man !

Has anyone read about Seventeen-itis?
No cause for giggles, I'll say -
One simple thought and oops ! Seventeen bursts
Of possible, improbable ways
To spin out a story with baskets and mirrors
And try to avoid the deep
Yearning to write all Seventeen poems -
Oh lord, I can't even sleep !

I keep trying to settle on one way to go.
Oh no, it's Tuesday already !
My Seventeen-itis has caught me again,
Can't even hold my pen steady.

St. Francis de Sales, St. Thomas, St. George,
If you'll help me, just this once, please,
Dear Patron Saints of Writers, I promise
I'll donate my first Royalties !

* earring, feather, void, deep, giggle, basket, mirror
