Father Green frowned. He had been ready to start the next round of Confirmation instruction with the latest Grade Nine students. It was always handled through the school. Now, the Archbishop had informed him that this wouldn’t be necessary. Father Green stood up and started pacing around his office. They were taking religion classes out of the school’s curriculum all together.
“This is preposterous,” he said to an empty room.
What was the parish going to do? Most of the kids didn’t attend Church because most of their parents didn’t. But, they had to get confirmed if they were going to, at least, get married in the Church. Father Green sat again and fidgeted with his fingers helplessly. The name of the school wouldn’t even be Our Blessed Mother Elementary any more.
Grand Rock Elementary indeed. Father Green shook his head and sat back.
