If I were you and you were me,
I wonder how the world would be.
For surely then you would know too,
That hurting me was hurting you.

If you were me and I were you,
I might see things the way you do.
And then it would be clear to me,
That hurting you was hurting me.

Perhaps today we could just try,
To see through one another's eye.
Perhaps the world would better be,
If I were you and you were me.
