Longfellow Darke and his alter egos are discussed
Settings: In upstate New York, from the 1980s to the late 1990s

Protagonist: Longfellow Darke, his alter ego DeWolfe Roche, and his pen names Nicholas/Nick Andrews, Drew Wright, and Wright Nicholas, and various family members and lovers. Flaws, he has many, including loving too much and being a widower.

Conflicts: Dealing with the death of his wife, finding out that he lives in a world of the supernatural and paranormal, and wanting to do more than write about hardboiled detectives and retellings of fairy tales and legends.

Antagonists: The warlock who called for the death of his wife, the dreams of demons and vengeful spirits, and how he feels that he’s disappointed his father for not becoming the race car driver the family felt was in his destiny.
