Thoughts, we all have them. What is yours? |
What is on your mind? I love all type of topics and will talk about almost anything! So, what is happening with you lately? The Huntington Japanese Gardens, photo by Seabreeze |
If you have never listened to Jack Webb and Johnny Carson do the Clapper Caper skit, you are in for a treat! I research this now and then just to replay and have a chuckle, which I just did recently. I thought it would be a fun thing to share. Enjoy! Seabreeze |
I love trees. But, I believe the tree I love the most is the California Pepper Tree. It is an everygreen tree that is of the species Schinus Molle. It is native to the areas of Peruvian Andes to South Brazil. It has such beautiful leaves and red berries when in bloom. It can grow tall but what I remember as a kid, as it branched out, with the branches low, it was easy for us kids to climb the tree. We used the berries for all kind of fun things. We would use them to line out our house area where we played. We used the berries for play food, but of course did not eat them as mom said they were poisonous, which I found out later was not true. The California Pepper drapes beautifully like a Weeping Willow. Some regard it a messy tree, especially if you have sidewalks or driveways where your trees grow. I understand this species has become invasive in Florida and in some places in California. What is fascinating is that the berries are sweet, can be used to make a tea like drink. Also, in past history, the leaves were used in mummification. The plant is very aromatic and you can purchase medicinal oils under the species' name Molle. If you are interested in more information about this tree, there is a short, but informative video: https://youtu.be/MT5-lt016kU?si=OM1vO_o7Vn-Fzrex. ![]() ![]() What's your favorite tree? |
DOGE. Department of Government Efficiency. Don't you just love acronyms? Well, I think DOGE is a wonderful idea. I certainly want to know where my tax dollars are going. And from what I have heard so far, I am not a happy camper. But, I am not surprised either. Anyone with half a brain knows there is waste in the government. So, why all the cry babies? I also do not believe that Elon Musk is a threat. At least not to me as I have nothing he wants that isn't already out there in the big WWW. Ops, another acronym. If any of congress is opposed to Elon's looking into the books, well, they must be afraid as to what he is going to find. Maybe it will be what congress has approved; especially if individual congress personal get found out by their constituency. That won't sit well come re-election day. One item found was: $4.6M contract to coordinate zoom and in-person meetings. I guess they need that for the employees who work from home. Have often do you hear about folks who want to volunteer their time to help discover what is wrong with the Government? Just think of the money that is being saved there. Or, maybe not because Congress has not been doing the job and they still get their paychecks. So, money still out the door. What do you think about DOGE? https://doge.gov/ ![]() ![]() |
Little Guy is my adorable but strong willed Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. He loves me so much that it gets to be a problem for me. I love dogs and have had many in my lifetime of 79 years. But nothing compares to the attention this little fellow gives me. He is always at my feet, which can be dangerous for both of us. He gets stepped on and I may trip! The attention he gives me has been somewhat puzzling because he has not always been my dog. Little Guy came with my newly married husband. He was Fred's dog and even Fred's beloved wife who passed away several years ago. I could see that he might be associating me to the female he lost, but they were never really good friends. Well, at least I understand she didn't like him. Little Guy has issues. We think he is about 8 years old and seems to have joint issues. From X-rays taken at the vets, he has previous signs of injury. So, I try to take that in consideration when working with him. However, nothing about this little fellow stops him from playing. He loves to rough house a little, but you must be careful as he has sharp teeth. When he gets excited, he gets the zoomies. He will run around the house two or three time. He is always looking up at me, but what else can he do as he is so close to the floor. He weighs about 7 pounds, pear shape. He is a "kick" to watch. He has an attitude that I am trying to understand. He talks back. Seriously! If you tell him no, or try to correct a bad habit, he talks back with a screeching bark. He is very clever how he does it. He barks and backs up then moves forward and then backs up again. It is hard not to laugh at him. So, I have become such a fan of Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisper. I am trying my best to pickup on his dog and human psychology. Periodically, I will check in and let you know if I make progress. How about you? Do you watch Cesar? |
I was having some problems the other day and said to myself, self, get it together. I started thinking about all the things we have, keep, collect and thought we are strange creatures. The more I thought about it, my mind brought me back to a skit by George Carlin. If you have never seen Stuff by Carlin, you have not lived. I believe it is the funniest skit I have ever seen! |
Got my computer back up and running. My husband's grandson, Jason, saved the day. However, Windows 10 did a few strange things when I loaded it. It wanted me to start logging on with a thumb print, or photo, or ...? I already had a password. I didn't want to do the others. I guess Microsoft knows best. But we got it so that all I do is do what I did before. I am a happy camper! |
