A poem about my decision to leave the Great Britain swim team
Upon the balcony -
my pockets of metal
         weighing heavy
I look down
to where I once belonged
But here I stand
                   alone

I watch golden swans
         smile and flutter -
that was me when
I once belonged
Not a care nor
an upward glance. Now
                   alone

Pockets weighing heavy I
turn to leave the team
         in which I once belonged
For this is when I look up
to start a fresh
                   alone
