Me, as a reader/writer, in summary:
I admire cleverly crafted stories that draw their readers in, and make them think. I find the fantasy genre good for this. Fantasy can throw things into new light that I would not have thought about if I stuck to realism. It is also great for *ahem* frivolous wish fulfillment.
I hate contrivance, that is, when a work feels "forced" as I read it. If it is well grounded and reeks of sincerity, I love it.
I am moved by love. No, not mush, love. When one person truly cares more about another than their self, I find few things more beautiful.
If I love to read it, I want to write like it.
