When things go wrong in a relationship, and you want them back to how they were.
I can’t let you go
Cause you mean the world to me
But in your eyes
You have said
That you want to be free

What happened to the smiles
The hugs, the kisses only meant for me?
Now I’m thinking our future together
Is something that you cannot see

Why can’t we go back
To the days of old
Where in my hands
You’re heart I could hold

Why can’t we go back
To the days not so long ago
When there was no question about your love
Because I would just know

Am I being selfish?
Am I in the wrong?
You have forced me into a corner
Of which I don’t belong

You’ve left me with no one
Just my own mind
A place where I’ve lost my smile
And worry is all I find

Why can’t we go back
To the days of old
Where in my hands
You’re heart I could hold

Why can’t we go back
To the days not so long ago
When there was no question about your love
Because I would just know

I try to shake these feelings off
But my suspicions only grow stronger
Won’t you please tell me how you feel
Or must I wait longer

Sleep is hard to come by
I don’t feel I can eat a bite
But I never saw this coming
I guess that’s one reason they say
That true love is blind

Forgive and forget
That’s what I’ve been told
I’m willing to falsify the truth
So we can return to the days of old

I gave you everything
Even opened doors that I kept closed
I just need a sign
A smile or a kiss to let me know
That you want more than anything
To return to the days of old

Please hurry before time runs out
And our future becomes a story never told
I’ll carry you in my arms
Back to the days of old
