Tom absolutely dotes on Mildred, who accompanies him almost everywhere. Mildred is more obviously disabled than Tom, seldom speaking, and reliant upon him for assistance with walking. Being able to help Mildred gives great pleasure to Tom, and is probably his primary focus. |
