This is the only creative writing I've done for a while. I hope you enjoy it!
Recently the Lord has been teaching me about His faithfulness, and how I can always rely on Him to catch me no matter how hopeless the situation may seem. I had started to think of Him as my "knight in shining armor." Last month I was reading a book that described the differences between the male and the female aspects of a person’s personality. As I read about the feminine desire for a protector, for a hero, the Lord brought images to me of my childhood and growth. He showed me how He had always been there; eager to be my Champion if I would only have let Him. Out of that revelation came this poem.

The Lord, My Champion

“Where is my knight in shining armor?”
I wondered often while young.
“Well, I guess I’ll take care of things myself
Till someone else comes along.”

“I’m here, Laura, I always have been,
You don’t need to take alarm.
I want to help you, just give it to me
And I’ll rescue you from harm.”

“Where is my knight in shining armor?”
Still there is no one in sight.
“Well, I guess I’ll trust in my own strength,
Stand tall and join in the fight.”

“I’m here, Laura, I always have been,
You can place your trust in Me.
I’ll never leave you, nor let you down,
My great love will set you free.”

“Where is my knight in shining armor?”
I’m sick of standing alone.
“Well, I guess that no one else can see,
I can’t do this on my own.”

“I’m here, Laura, I always have been,
So follow after my lead.
Find rest in Me and in My love,
My embrace is all you need.”

“Here is my knight in shining armor,
You’ve been with me all along.
I was looking for You everywhere,
Yet unable to hear Your song.”

“I’m here, Laura, I always will be,
Just keep looking in my eyes.
I am bigger than any dragons,
We will soar far past the skies.”
