A St. Valentine's Day Poem
Like gossamer strands, your hair fans out,
If I turn my head, I can make out your face,
Half in shadow, the rest lit by gentle sunbeams.
Your eyelashes curl lazily as you sleep.
I want to trace your lips with my finger.

Your inviting mouth, lips slightly parted,
Soft as velvet petals on a dewy morning.
I catch my breath, I simply can't believe
That you are not a dream that could fade,
If I touch, disturb this precious moment.

As I reach out, you wake and look at me.
I do not have to look to know you smile
It is reflected in the sparkle in your eyes.
As we lean to kiss each other good morning,
"Happy Valentine's Day" we say in unison.
