Your Guiding Mercy

Lord, please help me to forgive
those that hurt me in the past.
Help me, please, surrender that pain
for life goes by so very fast.

I don’t want to spend my days
in grief and fear and dismay.
I, myself, am far from perfect,
desiring to mend what I do or say.

I try to tell myself this;
that everyone makes mistakes,
does things that we don’t intend,
but deep down it still aches.

And Lord, please help me forgive
myself, for causing hurt in turn.
I don’t mean to, I really don’t;
I yet have a lot to learn.

I thank You for Your mercy;
You gave all the greatest gift.
Please guide me Lord, for too often
I find myself lost and adrift.
