Is it always worth it to live? First place in Spideys Weekly Poetry Contest!
Peering out that frosty window pane,
I watch.
The wind brushes flowing fingers through the rustling trees,
Silvery moonlight pierces through eternal black,
And all is quiet.

Deep inside myself, however,
Fires burn and demons rage!
My angry heart is pumping, pumping, pumping!
Angry blood through angry veins,
Does nothing but fuel my fury.

But at this very moment,
Another horror rushes through my veins.
A despondency so bleak and deep,
My soul shudders and my skin cries!
Yearning for the lost and forsaken!
Yearning for the beautiful maiden.

Pounding fury, stifling sadness,
Rushing from the deepest depths.
Trapped inside this horrid house!
Trapped inside myself!
Hands are trembling, words are stumbling,
Eyes are wandering to the shining, gleaming blade!
It shines, shines, shines with sweet salvation!

Limping over, falling over to that sweet window pane,
I look outside, peering out that frosty window pane.
Delicate snowflakes gently cascade down, down, down,
Blanketing the midnight grass.
Freedom, oh sweet freedom!

Shivering, shaking, my hand clutches the gleaming blade!
Raising it up above my head,
I watch it glisten in the soft, gentle firelight.
The soft, gentle firelight,
Which burns with laughter, laughter, laughter!
Mocking me in my final minutes.

My trembling, shuddering hand reaches out and draws the curtain shut,
Blacking out that glorious freedom!
I move the blade across my quivering throat,
Closing shut that curtain,
that curtain on my life…
