An English girl makes India her home.
An English girl comes to live in India. Her ashes are sprinkled at the confluence of Rangeet and Teesta, two Himalayan rivers in North Bengal.
Note: *Kanchenzonga is the highest mountain peak in the Indian Himalaya.

I'll Never Know

She follows the path of love
A princess from the emerald isle
As she ventures into unknown shores
Who knows where danger lurks?
And strange animals roam?
Where dark dragons dance in the mind?

Was there a choice?
In her isle, did she have a voice?
Would the ancient barriers be broken?
And the final word spoken?

A free spirit knows no bounds
Finds true freedom wherever she roams
And makes the unknown her very own
Welcomed by the queen of the hills
Where Kanchenzonga* beckons
And the rhododendron sways

And she makes young flowers bloom
Rewarded by the gentle touch
And smile of innocent eyes
Teaching them the ways of the world
Teaching the path she had trodden before
The new world she had embraced with love

They sprinkle her where the swift waters flow
Where the Rangeet sings and the Teesta glows
For the final journey
Yet again through the unknown
Floating on the love of many
To join the single love when it all began

Flowing to the rhythm of the rivers
Across the land she had made her own
Over the delta and into the omega
Into surf and spray where in glee you play
Into the rolling waves and ocean mist
Into the freedom that lies beyond

Did the emerald isle beckon?
Did she ever forgive?
I'll never know
