A person's outward appearance and its irrelevance to who they are.
I see the girl
Staring back at me
Her long, shiny hair
Her resentful eyes

I see the girl
Staring back at me
I try to speak with her
But I hear only my own soft voice

I see the girl
Staring back at me
I can smell the thick air around us
The air that engulfs me when I am alone

I see the girl
Staring back at me
I can almost taste the unbreakable tension
The girl dislikes me

I see the girl
Staring back at me
I reach out to touch her
My hands feel smooth, cool glass

As I watch the girl
Staring back at me
I know that there is so much more
Than what anyone can see

There's so much more to the girl
Than what she says, and how she acts
The style of her hair, the clothes she wears
None of this matters

What is important are the things
That nobody else could know
What is hidden in the darkest corners of her mind
What is buried deep within her heart

I can feel her frustration
I can sense her anger
I can feel her love, her pain
All the emotions she holds inside

As I look into the mirror
I see the girl
I can feel what the girl is feeling
I think what the girl is thinking

I am the girl.
