Where I'm stuck.
I'm a little knick knack, sitting on a shelf. An oddity, a mystery, one of a kind. I do not fit into any category, wholly and solely. At once cute and ugly, at once sweet and sour. I appeal and yet repel, creating confusion where ever I go.

I've been sitting on this store shelf, waiting for a long time. I've been glanced at, picked up and checked out, even tossed about. And let us not forget the many times I've been entirely overlooked.

Yet I remain hopeful that someday, someone will want me for their own, because I am the way I am. They'll pick me up and exclaim, “Where have you been!!”, like all this time I've simply been lost, only to be found again.

On this day, in my mind, everything will slot into place. Like missing pieces to a puzzle, the spot where I belong. I'll be carried home and treasured, a possession never to be ignored. For I am unique and am worthy of such dues.

Yet each day that passes by without a glimmer of hope, causes the pool in my heart to recede just a little. Closer and closer to the drought of loneliness. A state that can be borne, though never enjoyed.
