A Mother encouraging her daughters to pursue their dreams.
Handprints
Ever since you were a little girl I've told you that
It's okay to take the road less traveled,
To show the world that you are an inimitable person
Not given to following well-worn paths just because
They are the most probable or the most acceptable.
I have taught you
Not only to accept and
Believe in yourself
As the person you are,
But to do the same with others you will meet along the way.
I want you to seize dreams I've never dared to,
To experience life at its best,
And most of all,
To believe that if you truly want to,
You can reach out and touch the moon and stars.
But... have I told you
To carry a flashlight on your journeys,
So that within the mist of darkness,
You will always be able to see,
The palm of my open hand,
Waiting...
To grasp yours,
And bring you safely home once again.
