My first posted poem... when we close our eyes in the end...
Sleeping in Light

My eyes grow dim to the darkness all around,
And the darkness all around now begins to fade,
And out of a twilight speck of star
A light begins to grow.

My fears wane and perish as I confront fate.
I fear no more the fears that grieved me once before,
And out of fear reverence emerges
For warmth embracing me.

My eyes behold my past now clear as crystal.
I sit on life’s edge and watch in awesome wonder,
And every sunrise that’s filled my life
I witness once again.

Every tear, every kiss, each laugh once again.
Each sunset, each sunrise I see before my eyes.
My tears prismatic raindrops falling,
Refracting all the light.

Every drowning rainstorm now bursting light,
Now the rain makes me smile, the pain is all blessing.
And all my loss I now count as gain
For the light bids me home.

Time is now short and I must answer the call.
I feel it in my blood; I feel it in my bones,
And in my heart I know it is time
To leave this world for home.

I dip my face into the shining expanse,
And submerged in light my life I now surrender,
To my heart’s calling that beckons me,
Drawing me homeward bound.

I breathe my last breath and so give up the ghost,
To eternal slumber, in final translation,
And in celestial bliss I find
Myself
Sleeping
In Light.
