Desensitized

and only now can i witness
the flickering particles of light shower her
baring frames of monochromatic splendor

and only now can i hear
the howling waves of furious wonder
blasting the battered steeple of her vacant home

and only now can i savor
the bitter cries of her muzzled reality
demanding my sterile indifference

and only now can i sense
the putrid stench of decay
unveiling the oblivion of her corroded soul

and only now can i embrace
the raging flames that once engulfed her heart
yet now barely command a fading shadow.

does her finger lie?
.......deliberation into the future
just beyond the flesh?
.......anticipation of the past
a skeleton of a transparent queen
.......leads nowhere except
uncloaked and dethroned.
