20 Years have now passed since I met him...sad, I was unable to rescue him...
Ten years ago -
In a land far away,
I met a fine man -
But I couldn't stay.

A child was I,
Eager to explore.
The decision I made -
I now deplore.

The cut that I made -
Was worse than a knife.
He took the next girl,
And made her his wife.

She didn't respect him -
And cut even deeper.
The love that he showed her,
Still could not keep her.

This girl he had chosen -
To be his wife,
She took along with her -
A great part of his life.

No longer so willing -
To take a chance.
This man took his kindness,
Love and Romance,
He packed it up neatly -
Hid it high on a shelf,
Allowing it no longer -
To be part of himself.

I've come back to -
Rescue this very fine man.
If he will just let me -
I know that I can.

I'll retrieve the Kindness,
The Love and Romance,
If only he's willing -
To give me a chance.

We'll unpack it all -
And put it to use.
We'll regain the feeling -
We lost in our youth.
