Written for my son when he was 4 yrs old, he loves it & keeps a copy in his room.
What do you mean,
your head is stuck?
Why did you put it in there?

I thought I told you
to watch a video.
You put your peanut butter & jelly where?!?

Oh I see, I nursed you, but Miss Mary
with her stickers is your best friend.
Yeah, that seems fair.

Red cowboy boots, yellow gym shorts,
and your Batman pajama top sound
like a perfectly reasonable thing to wear.

Really, I don’t care
who started it.
Don’t lick your sister!

My feet found your army men
on the floor again.
I know, Mommy shouldn’t swear.

Bugs in your jeans’ pockets,
sand in your shoes.
Oh God! What’s in your hair?

Don’t cry honey.
Mommy is so sorry.
We will get you another bear.

Don’t pick on your sister.
I know, I’m sorry
she’s breathing your air.

What’s that you say?
Matthew isn’t your best friend anymore?
Oh, he pulled your sister’s hair.

No really, I’m sorry, honey.
One flip-flop and a snow boot
DO NOT MAKE A PAIR!

Nope, I don’t even want to know.
Just put your clothes on!
Shhh-I don’t care!

Oh honey, you’re sick.
You ate what?!?
Oh, I see. It was a dare.

You want to marry mommy?
Oh sweetie, do you think
Daddy and you can share?

Some days are so long
and are so hard to get through.
It seems like more than I can bear.

But at day’s end, while
I hold you,
I know someone answered my prayer.
