Remembering that first love.
I never had a photograph,
One of you to keep,
Didn’t ever kiss your lips,
Or even massage your feet.

I never told you how I felt,
That I loved only you,
Didn’t ever buy you flowers,
Or ask you to be my valentine, true.

I never whispered in your ear,
Sweet nothings one after another,
Didn’t gaze dreamily into your eyes,
Or promise there’d be no other.

I never took you out for a meal,
Or even cooked you breakfast,
Didn’t once hold you in my arms,
Or swear my love for you would last.

I never had the courage,
And of that I’m not proud,
I didn’t stop my car that day,
And call your name out loud.

I’ve never forgotten that moment,
Or the feelings that we shared,
Didn’t ever stop thinking about you,
And how it’s made me scared.

I never said I’m sorry,
For not seeing you again,
Didn’t ever think my love for you,
Could cause me so much pain.

I’ve never stopped loving you,
But I guess now it’s too late to say,
Didn’t for one moment ever stop wishing,
Things hadn’t turned out this way.

I’ve never found another,
Who could hold my love it’s true,
And I’ve never found anyone,
As beautiful as you.
