Those dang coal trains!
Countin' the Coal Train

Pullin engines comin'
clackity-clack clack
clackety clack slowly goin
loud toot toot, here it come!
Don't know how they get it
don't know where and
don't know who, but
empty earth's a weepin'.

Coal trains comin'
mornin', noon, sometime
evenin', night alltime
Count 'em freight cars, then
forget what count I'm on
when pushin' engines pass.

Slowly heavin, up they go
dark snakes climbin'
'least a hundred strong.

Can't see who's driven
They don't wave a hand
cause they're stealin, don't
they know its wrong?
ain't be nothin left!

Of mother's shiny heart
dug out every day
pile 'em high to burst
givin' nothin' back
it's a cryin' shame.

Can't see to leave it
they want coal now
ain't waitin' for diamonds
got time for nothin' now.

There's a coal train goin'
one a these empty days
last one will be passin'
Then what'll earth do?

With no strong innerds
for holdin' us folks up!
