Chains of fear
________________________________________________
A old pain still throbs
On my cold old scars
I can feel them pulse and sting
They had bound my wings in iron chains
Of domestic walls, vicious words
And callous jealous winds.
Now I dine with kings
Been offered wings to fly
Over the blue Nile of black gold.
Fly on Isfahan carpets
in diamond filled Arabian nights
to Alladin’s cave in chains of gold.
A pain still throbs
On my cold old scars
I can feel them pulse and sting
I cannot leave my golden chains
I fear to tread those cold old trails
Where time has stood dead still
A tinge of regret
Envy perhaps, for the uncaged birds that fly,
They will find their worm
And return safe
To a nest of rough leaves
As warm love beckons inside.
Then the sky speaks through a curtain of clouds
And unchains the gold from my soul
I am one with the winds
clouds and stars, and planets on their elliptical spin
The heart opens softly as a petal without fear
