Are we different?
______________________________________________
Lucy was our mother
Yours, mine, his and yours again,
A million elliptical solar spins away
In Africa, where we were born
And worshipped
Ancient Australopithecus bones
Created abstract symbols on rockface
And played.
Many sun spins later
Began our journey
Out of Africa
Into differences of the wilderness
color, creed and race
And the violence of tribes
Less than, perhaps, today.
What was good and what was bad
Evolved with our spine and brain
All men were not equal
They knew, always.
Now the tributaries meet once again
Meet on a global terrain
Suspicious as the ancient
hunter gatherer warrior
on the vast Serengeti plains
Devouring the remnant remains
More than the lives lost
Roaming the wild African plains.
Through the mix of yin and yang
And all that is translucent and gray
We still dance with sunflowers
Create beauty and harmony to share
An unconscious journey
to a higher consciousness
To Homo-sapiens Lucy had brought us
To Homo-noeticus we have to
Make our own inevitable way.
