Each life faces sunset, and storms which cover its beauty.
Life's Sunset
by Vivian Gilbert Zabel

Dark clouds loom, hiding the horizon.
Thunderheads build, dimming the sunset,
While overhead the deep blue of a clear sky
Spreads cloudlessly, signaling
A trouble free time of peace.
Yet, fear simmers beneath the calm
As eyes catch a glimpse of the storm's approach.
Joy, laughter leave after a brief visit,
Each seemingly shorter than the last.
Lightning flashes; thunder roars;
Rain beats upon bowed heads
As shoulders heave with sorrow,
The sun banished in the blinding black of night.
Only hope helps keep the heart beating,
Awaiting the next day for cheerful memories.
