The Web and I
____________________________________
I believed in
the indestructible cold steel of absolute truth
of science and existential wisdom,
Verified, nullified, crucified, deified
Over tedious theorems and empiricism,
Cool observation of unique evidence,
As a samurai sword through chaff.
I was the privileged observer
Impartial to the observed,
Patient, never crossing the unbending barrier
Between observer and the observed.
But I didn’t see the expanding unseen,
Didn’t see the colors beyond the rainbow,
Didn’t hear their unheard anguished cries.
Unknown, I had traveled
Where the observer wept with the observed
And souls danced as one.
I was the stem cell wanting to die
I was the bud and leaf sharing its grief
I was the ocean rolling on clouds
I was the spirit beyond self and belief.
And in the eye of the spirit,
By the storm I was blown
By His hand I was thrown
By the unseen I was shown
That I was not,
Not just a ‘Man’.
