Comfort in Sadness?
LOVER

“Come to me,”
whispered Misery,
extending a strong frigid hand...
I sought to escape him,
I ached for my freedom,
but his power I could not withstand.

I avoided his gaze…
His touch left me dazed,
as we entered the realm of his darkness…
Overcome by his presence,
his embrace left me senseless…
He turned to ask,  “Do you want this?”

His attention I craved,
his love kept me slaved,
he kept me from being so lonely…
Enveloped by sadness
and taunted by madness,
I wanted him only to hold me…

My mind such a mess,
I pressed close to his chest,
I felt his heart colder than mine…
I understood his devotion
could well be my poison,
but such thoughts are forgotten in time…

And his voice in my ear,
such a low, sexy whisper,
rendered me speechless and aching…
His lips on my throat,
so deliciously cold,
left my body hungry and shaking.

“You are wanting me here,
you are needing me near,
to love you when no one else does…”
The truth cuts like a knife,
within an inch of my life,
and I feel it is me whom he loves.

For this I surrender,
the release such sweet pleasure,
I know that for me he would kill…
I feel that he wants me,
so I give him my body,
to ravage and do as he will.

After all of these years,
he still kisses my tears,
and responds to my every emotional whim…
Because he adores me,
I allow him to own me:
I no longer fear to admit I am his…
