A walk in the forest with my five year old daughter
Diamond Frames and You
_________________________________________________

We walked through the forest
Through the flame of colors
Your little feet keeping pace with mine
Yes little one, I remember well
Those days in diamond frames and you
Blowing soap bubbles in the air

In amazement I looked at you
A life I had brought to earth
In amazement, you looked at the world
Unfolding before your curious eyes
Those days in diamond frames and you
Blowing soap bubbles in the air

An eternity passed, as we watched in awe
The giant monarch butterfly
Flutter away out of your reach
But I held on, to your beauty and song
Those days in diamond frames and you
Blowing soap bubbles in the air

Four eyes engrossed on insignificant ants
Building giant burnt sienna hills
Digging deep into the heart of the earth
A million questions, your eyes afraid
Those days in diamond frames and you
Blowing soap bubbles in the air

Little blue jeans, little bare feet
Bangles on little artist hands
Big brown eyes and eyebrows
Sketched with one quick brushstroke
Those days in diamond frames and you
Blowing soap bubbles in the air

You danced on my footprint
Splashing monsoon puddles
With a shriek of wicked laughter
On my wind swept hair
Those days in diamond frames and you
Blowing soap bubbles in the air

You didn’t need their designer toys
Their short lived joys and acrylic face
You were mine and ours
The joys and a journey we share
Those days in diamond frames and you
Blowing soap bubbles in the air.
