My granddaughter's checking out 'gators!

Amber and the alligator
Is a tale that must be told,
You will soon understand
Why I'm looking old!

She is down in Florida
Visiting her dad's family,
At the computer writing
An instant message to me.

She said that she was having fun
And that it had been really hot
Then without a warning
Her message came to a stop.

Be right back she wrote
There's a baby alligator here
Then she was gone -
It seemed like for a year!

While I was in a state of panic
Waiting for her to come back on
I typed out many warnings;
Wondering where she had gone!

Finally she responded
Telling me it was okay
It was at a neighbors
Several yards away!

It was not so little -
About a foot and a half long,
I asked where her brother was
She said "oh, he's long gone!"

The alligator got him!
Then she added some Ha,ha!
{I think my little darlin'
Just went a bit too far!}

When they get back home,
I'll have no cause to fear
As long as they don't bring
An alligator here!
