This is the story of how my aunt inspired me to learn how to operate a computer. |
Aunt Dottie, My Computer Inspiration Imagine how different your life would be if you didn’t know how to operate a computer. That’s how my life was until my Aunt Dottie encouraged me to learn. I had always depended on my husband and my children to get information from the computer for me whenever I required it. Each one of them is a computer wiz, so on the rare occasions that I asked them a question relating to the operation of the computer, they gave me an answer that might as well have been in Martian. I simply accepted the fact that I was incapable of learning, and I didn’t go near the computers for fear of breaking something. One day, all of that changed when I received a letter from my Aunt Dottie. As I read the letter, I could sense the enthusiasm in her words. She had learned how to operate her computer and she was doing quite well with it. She included her e-mail address, and told me that I could e-mail her! I brought the letter to my husband and asked him to help me. He was standing with two of my children at the time. After the three of them got over their initial bout of laughter, my husband set up an e-mail address for me. As the days went by, Aunt Dottie displayed her extraordinary patience and encouragement at inspiring me to learn new things on the computer. She showed me how to look information up on websites, and she also showed me how to forward messages. A whole new world was opened up to me! As time went by, Aunt Dottie became a Writing.com member. She knew that I would enjoy Writing.com so she encouraged me to join also. I finally did, and I have been enjoying every minute of it. Everyone desires to make a mark in the world during his or her lifetime. Some people give birth to children that grow up to be fine adults. Other people improve a business.
