Poem about Dublin for contest |
Dublin Fair City From massive medieval castle wall, to shimmering crystal palace mall. Dublin, the fair city, You'll find, has got it all. As the natives will tell when they want to ring your bell. Go down to O'Connell street and see, The glorious "fluzzie in the jacuzzi." "Fluzzie in the jaccuzzi," you ask me? A naked lady's sculpture in a fountain, you see. Who says the Irish are a sad lot. A great sense of humor is what they've got. There are castles splendid from medieval time, magnificient cathederals with bells that chime. Wonderous singers and poets and writers are here And at the oldest book known to man you can peer. "Painted" doors aglow on cobblestone lanes, leaded and crystal glass in the window panes. A city full of such charm and romance, and oh, it's magical when the Irish dance. Don't miss the pubs, not a stranger you'll be. Feel in your heart James Joyce's history. A new poet may recite or a ballader sing, And a joy to your heart they all bring. Dublin fair city, you will learn to love. No troubles here, but the peace of a dove. Dublin fair city, the secret is simple to me. It has warm people who value and grow history. |
