Even when I've received no email or phone calls, I realize that I’m not alone.
As a young woman I wrote a poem with the last line 'each of us is ever alone'. I'm sure that's exactly what I felt at that moment. Perhaps sometimes it has seemed as though we are all alone.

I've since learned that I can never be alone, since Jesus is always with me. I've also discovered that the search for the person whom God has selected for me has brought some wonderful godly men into my life.

Some entered my life just long enough to exchange a few emails. Others I’ve spent time talking with on the telephone. Still others I have met face to face. Although none of them was clearly the soulmate I seek each was, I'm sure, part of God's plan for helping me define just what I've wanted and needed in a male best friend and confidant.

I've also learned that when good-byes are necessary with these new friends, it isn't a painful event when they were only meant to enter my life for a season and not for a lifetime.

Coping with loneliness is so much easier when I know I've talked with God about what I want and need in my life, when I know I've actually set down on paper the qualities I find attractive and those I have to have in my future partner.

God knows that I'd rather be single and lonely than to accept less than what He has in store for me. That makes coping with loneliness so much easier.

I'm not really alone. Even when my email inbox is empty or there are no messages on my answering machine, I realize that I’m not alone. God is with me in my search for a lifemate. He knows whom I seek.
