Grokster Suess style story about school |
In a town called Thinksville, all twisty and grand, Lived a curious creature with thoughts so unplanned. He was Grokster the Third, with a noggin so bright, He’d ponder and puzzle from morning till night. One day in Thinksville, the bell gave a clang, “Schooltime!” it hollered, with a zing and a zang. Grokster bounced forth, his shoes in a whirl, To the School of All Wonders, for boys and for girls. The school was a sight, with towers of books, Windows like eyes giving quizzical looks. The doors flapped like wings, the roof twirled a tune, And the desks danced a jig ‘neath a strawberry moon. “Welcome, dear Grokster!” said Teacher McSnoo, With a hat full of stars and a tie made of glue. “We’ll learn of the Whozits and Whatchamacalls, The Whys and the Wheres of these bouncy school walls!” First came the numbers, all skipping in rows, Twos tangoed with threes, fours tickled their toes. Grokster laughed loud, “They’re alive, oh my word! Math’s not just sums—it’s a frolicking herd!” Then came the letters, a chattery bunch, A’s munched on apples, Z’s zapped with a crunch. They spelled out wild tales of a cat in a tree, And Grokster joined in with a “G-R-O-K-3!” Science was next, with a fizz and a pop, Potions that giggled and clocks that went “Plop!” “Why’s the sky blue?” asked Grokster with glee, “It’s light playing tag!” said McSnoo, “You’ll see!” At recess, the playground was wilder than wild, Slides looped in loops, swings winked at each child. Grokster climbed high on a cloud-spinning rope, Shouting, “School’s not a bore—it’s a marvelous hope!” By day’s end, his brain was a buzzing beehive, Ideas and wonders all twirling alive. “School’s like a rocket!” said Grokster with cheer, “It launches your thoughts to the stars far and near!” So if you’re in Thinksville, or somewhere quite new, Hop to your school like our Grokster would do. For learning’s a party, a zany delight, A Seussian journey from morning till night! |
