A man arrives when his brother calls 300 words

Whatsupp Eh?

“What’s going on?” a voice asked.

“What’s up, eh?” the voice asked a second time. Finally, one of the EMT’s looked up at a tie-dyed nightmare complete with scruffy beard and sandals.

“Stand behind the yellow tape, sir. This is a crime scene.”

The throwback from the Sixties made his way under the tape. He was approached by a policeman.

“The detective wants to see you. Follow me.”

He followed until he was faced with what he called a ‘suit’.

“Why are you here, Mr....?”

“Phoenix Norton. My brother Aspen called me, so I came.”

“From where?”

“Canada.”

“When did he call?”

“On the weekend, I came as fast as I could. Drivers don’t pick up hitchhikers anymore.”

The detective nodded.

“Did he say why?”

Phoenix shook his head.

“Come with me, sir. I need you to identify a body.”

When the body bag was opened, Phoenix cringed backwards.

“It’s Aspen. What happened?”

“Looks like someone hated him. He was stabbed forty-five times.”

The previously benevolent look on Phoenix’s face hardened.

“Who did it?”

“Any ideas?”

“Some, I’ll give you a list at the station. How about a ride?”

The detective looked around, then said:

“Since it looks like I’m done for now, why not?”

So, the two men got into the detective’s car and drove to the station. Once there, the detective opened the back door to let his passenger out. There was no one there!

“What? I watched him get into my squad myself!”

Puzzled, the detective went in to see if he’d somehow slipped in ahead of him. Nobody had seen anybody like he described come in. At a loss, the detective went into his office, woke his computer and began a search.

“Phoenix Norton was killed at Woodstock. His brother gave him bad drugs.”
