Another Day I reached in my pocket for money. I was pretty sure, but not positive, that I had enough in there to get us a pizza. If not, at least a few slices for supper. I’d left my purse at home. Stupid, but not unusual. I drive my kids to and from school daily, some days are more complicated than others… There was a major meltdown today when Andrea couldn’t find her homework. Things got worse when she found it. Her kindergarten age brother, Randel, found the homework page and decided to paint on it. It was not only impossible to read, it was soaking wet. I had to go into school and tell her teacher, to stop her from crazed retaliation. She wanted to smash his train set! I blocked that with ‘no allowance for two years’ if she did. Then, of course, I got caught up at home, as usual and had nothing for dinner. And, once again, forgot my purse. As I sat at the light I pulled stuff out of my pockets. Rocks, feathers, tissues, and finally some change. Not enough for a soda. This day was wearing me down. As I said every day, ‘I need to get organized!’ I’ve been saying it for years… The kids got into the car, happy, and laughing together! Putting off the impending ‘late dinner’ information… I asked them what was so funny. “You stuck your purse in Andrea’s backpack!” Randel yelled, laughing even more. Andrea held it up for me. “Sorry I didn’t call you!” Andrea said, “I didn’t find it till I was packing up to come home!” I now remembered putting it in there so I wouldn’t forget it again… I had fifty-three bucks in it too! Supper at The Pizza Place! Another day, life is good. |
