The
vision of the Veterans Group is to build a community on Writing.Com dedicated to honoring the military service of veterans. Members of this community will come from all nations and honor all military services. Some of the ways members of this community will honor veterans include

Listening to and sharing their lived experiences, both in the military and as veterans;

Sharing news and resources that support veterans;

Interacting with veterans, their families, and their loved ones in respectful and supporting ways on Writing.com;

Writing about veterans and military life consistent with the mission of honoring both veterans and their service.
1. The
mission of the Veterans Group is to honor the military service of veterans. To this end, the Veterans Group will

Conduct monthly and annual challenges that recognize items about veterans or military life consistent with the mission of honoring both veterans and their service.

Provide a discussion forum on Writing.Com for the public to share stories, articles, and news, and other information consistent with the mission of honoring both veterans and their service.

Provide a discussion forum on Writing.Com specifically for writing tributes to veterans.

Provide a discussion forum on Writing.Com for veteran-to-veteran interaction.
2. The Veterans Group leadership will include the
Senior Moderator and Group Owner and those assistants the Moderator may deem appropriate to facilitate the operation of the group and its activities.
3. Members of the Veterans Group commit to honoring the military service of veterans and to participating in some or all of the groupโs activities. Participation can include

Participation in the writing challenges;

Participation in the Discussion Board by posting or responding to posts;

Participation in the Tributes Board by posting or responding to posts;

Donating gift points or conducting fund-raisers to support group activities such as the monthly challenges.
4. Members who commit to participate in the Discussion Board at least once a week will join the
Captains Group and will be so identified on the Discussion Board page and other places the Senior Moderator may identify. Captains are responsible only for posting to the Board at least once a week. The post may be a response to another post, or about an interesting and relevant news story, or any other matter germane to the purposes of the board. If a Captain notices something amiss on the Board, they will notify the Senior Moderator who will take action as appropriate.
Captains may take temporary leave from regular postings by notifying the Senior Moderator. If a Captain is absent from the Discussion Board for more than six months, the Senior Moderator may remove the member from the Captainโs group.
Captains may display the Captains Badge in their posts or port.
5. The Senior Moderator may remove members from the Veterans Group for actions or posts in group-sponsored activities that are inconsistent with the purposes of the Group. The decisions of the Senior Moderator on such matters are final and not subject to appeal.
