Morning Chats âWhat does this mean?â Theyâre words Honey. They all mean different things. âWell, this one,â Maggie pointed. âThat word is âbecauseâ.â âIs it like a bumble bee?â âNo, Honey, itâs not from bees. It means the reason, the why. You know how sometimes I tell you to do something, like pick up your toys, and you say âwhy?â And then I say âbecauseâ itâs too messy, or they might get broken.â âOhâŚâ âHow about this one?â she pointed to sore. âThat word is about a feeling; it means a boo boo.â âWho has a boo boo?â âWell, you did Honey. Remember when you threw up yesterday? That was your tummy having a boo boo. Your tummy didnât feel good, and it didnât want to take care of that food you ate so it made you throw up. Thatâs why you couldnât go to school yesterday. âBut my tummy is happy todayâŚâ âYes, and thatâs why Iâm sending this note with you to school. You need to give it to Miss Reynolds so she knows what happened.â âWhat if she canât read yet?â âI think she can. Itâs something you learn in school. Youâll probably start learning pretty soon! Maybe Miss Reynolds will help you start.â âIâll ask her! And you can help me too because you already know how, right?â âAbsolutely!â âI can write my nameâŚâ âYes, and when you see your name, you usually know itâs your name. Thatâs reading! See you have already started learning to read!â âWoopie! So, what are these words?â Maggie pointed to another sentence on the note. âAh, just some more things about schoolâŚâ âOh, OKâ she jumped up, ready to go. Mom took a breath, those words actually said âI donât know how you put up with twenty, four-year-olds all day, every day!!!â |
