A leprechaun grants me a four leaf clover and I’m lucky for a day. |
I saw a 4-leafed clover in a bird’s beak. “If you spy me and guess my name, Then you’ll win the four leaf clover game,” Quoth robin redbreast on the grass; Then, before a minute passed, I guessed that she was “Leprechaun,” And thus my St. Patrick’s Day went on: She handed me the clover in her beak And said, “For 24 hours, luck seeks Out everything for you, For that is what four leaf clovers do.” At 10, a hiring manager called me To offer my best yet salary; At noon, my lunch came with free cake, And I gave it away to a little girl Who said, “You’re the nicest lady in the world.” At 3 I lifted in the gym Stronger than I’d ever been And even my waist looked fit and trim. At 5, I went to my physical And found my high cholesterol Was down, and I had a fully healed ACL. My favorite programs were on tv that night And I watched them with my sweetheart till We turned out the light. The very next day I forgot my alarm. Late the first day, my new job was gone. I ate chips and cake and grumbled along Skipped the gym, and nothing good was on. The four leaf clover was wilted, But my sweetheart said, “Let it alone, and come to bed.” |
