Gnome tended flowers, fairy dug for vegetables, mermaid got no exercise
Mermaid in Aquarium,
Fish girl on display.
She hasn’t swum to see her mom;
She does it for the pay.

Gnome digs for potatoes
When the foreman is nearby
But he’d rather clear the rain
Off a sunflower’s eye

Fairy’s job is making sure
The flowers are upright
But she trades with gnome
When they’re all alone-

All three have a goal in sight.

There is an issue for the three;
None is where he or she wants to be.
They save and hope and write poetry.

“I’m a floral artist, see”
“I’m not a stereotype of something pretty”
“I just want to move my body”

In heated discussions they air their quirks
And that’s how the garden workday works.
Will the issue ever be gone?
That we all wonder, everyone.
