Good Again

It was a very windy day, and another was expected for tomorrow. I used to think it was the snow I didn’t like the most. Cold, mushy, you have to bundle up your whole person to go out in it, all the way down to big clunky boots. But it is pretty. Sort of magical, and covers up all the things you should have fixed outside, once it’s on the ground. You don’t have to look at the piles of junk, the un-weeded gardens, the big spot where the grass refuses to grow while growing like crazy everywhere else, including where it shouldn’t be… Even the house looks better, the roof all covered with white, hiding the shingles that need replacing. Wind doesn’t have any good parts, unless you’re a kite flyer or something.

As I stood at the window, I could see the sky was a brilliant blue, with big white clouds rushing past. Almost like the clouds were in a race, one cloud in the lead, and the others trying desperately to catch up. It was cute, though not exciting. From inside, I could hear it howling, so no desire to go outside and feel it too. Add it is very cold out there. The whole weekend will be cold.

As I stood there trying to think of what to do, I suddenly realized I was thinking crazy. I dread working outside; and I’m not a sporty person either. I doubt if I’ve tossed a ball in over forty years. I don’t like walks, dread runs, I don’t even like shopping! My friends think I’m a square, and frankly, I don’t like them all that much either…

I felt my weekend starting to feel like a vacation! I could stay home! Alone! And suddenly, life was good again.
