For an important date
a missed appointment
with fate loomed

He had an open window
To make the deal.

With his newfound
Soul mate.

So much discussion
So many things to do

Yet he was haunted
By the scent
of a broken heart

as he thought
about love lost.

and now
perhaps found again
late in life.
