Epilogue: And Now…
"They look so happy," Adrienne says, holding his arm tight and leaning her head on his shoulder. Ollie can feel the warm sun on his face, hear the laughter of the children. She tilts her head, and he can tell she is looking up at him. "Were we like that, Ollie? When we were kids?"

"When you weren't kicking some kid's ass for stealing my mittens or something," Ollie says with a smile, tracing her face with his sensitive hands, "seeing" her in a way only he can understand.

She is quiet for a moment, and Ollie feels a slight frown on her face. "Ade…?"

"I thought about what I asked you the other night, and… Well, I changed my mind. I don't think I want to have another one, Ollie. I mean--I don't think we should roll the dice again."

Ollie nods his head in agreement. He had actually been rather worried when his sister had mentioned wanting a third child between them. You could only roll those genetic dice so many times before coming up snake eyes. "Yeah. I think--no, I KNOW you're right, Ade. Two perfect babies will just have to be enough for us," he says with a mock sigh of resignation, finishing with a happy smile and caressing her face again.

Adrienne's hand strokes his arm… then his hand, then his thigh. Ollie doesn't need to touch her face to know she's smiling now; he can hear it in her voice as she stands up from the back porch swing and gently tugs his arm.

"I said I didn't want to have another baby, is all, Ollie," her teasing voice sing-songs to him. "I didn't say I wanted to stop practicing for it…"

The dark-haired boy and girl of four and five laugh and run in the back yard, and Adrienne leans against their kitchen counter listening to them, caressing her man, her brother, her lover, caressing him and holding him against her in the afternoon sunlight from the window, holding his heart inside hers as she will hold him inside her body later tonight. Their cheeks touch, and their lips meet, and they rock ever so gently together, two halves of a whole, each holding tightly the love of their lives.

Because sometimes, dreams do come true.
