Interesting “This is your last warning.” Jason cringed, not knowing where the voice was coming from. He was hiding behind a bush, but didn’t even know if he was really hidden. The voice echoed in the air making it impossible to locate the source. Kicking himself for sneaking out then, he looked around for some clue as to how to escape back in. The front door was closest, but the possibility of one or more of his parents being there was high. He decided to try for the kitchen. Mom came and went, but he could see the whole kitchen through that back window, and just wait for an opening. Trying to get as low as possible, he slowly escaped to the back of the bushes, and crawled toward the back of the house. He didn’t get any new warnings, but he could still hear a soft buzz from wherever it was. Maybe it was trying to track him. Finally at the back, he peered in the kitchen window. His mother was carrying two cups away from the counter, he practically held his breath waiting to see if she went out, or over to the table. Suddenly she stopped, as if she was listening to something. Then she walked out, into the den! Yippee!! Jason snuck in quickly, then immediately, snuck over to the stairs. In the living room Dad said, “Ok, he’s in, I’m going to take down the camera.” “I hope this didn’t scare him too much…” Mom said. “I just get so worried when he sneaks out.” “It will be easier when he’s older, and doesn’t have to sneak out.” Jason heard it all. It never occurred to him that they actually worried. Or that he could go out anytime when he was older! Interesting… |
