The Magic Window

The window was stuck, again. I wanted to throw a pan through it! It’s a weird little window in the kitchen. It didn’t even have a view. All you can see through it are the steps going up to the second floor. I love those steps, but I also love the window because I cook.

When I’m cooking having it open was magic. A cool breeze if it was getting too hot in the kitchen, somewhere to direct the smells if I was cooking something smelly. Even something to send lovely smells to the backyard when I was surprising the grandchildren.

Well, it’s stuck again. I had many of the windows replaced when I bought the house, but it cost enough money that I skipped a few. I had other more important things to buy, like a new TV…

But, after two years, it was getting harder and harder to get that window to open. Like now, frying bacon… So, my choice was to smell up the entire house for who knows how long, or… get a new window.

Do you think a window company is excited about doing one window in an entire house? Everyone I called told me to bring in the proper measurements. I have no idea how to “measurement” a window! Apparently, they will come and install it, yet, they expect me to tell them what size? I don’t work at a window company!

Finally, I broke down and asked my neighbor Ted if he could help. I barely knew Ted, he bought the house next door last year. But he was outside at the moment I was going nutty trying to measure my window. So, I asked.

Ted and I are getting married next week. And he loves my cooking too. Woo woo!
